Bronwen Grieves British

Bronwen Grieves hand-builds and then fires her ceramics in her home studio in Nottingham.  Bronwen mainly uses gritty stoneware clays or architectural white stoneware to construct the building of her fragile forms. Texture is the principal form of decoration alongside pale slips and glazes.

The artist is drawn to structure and texture within the landscape. Bronwen’s work is influenced by utilitarian constructions such as bridges, arches, crane plinths and water towers set alongside other more organic forms.

Bronwen has been making ceramic objects for at least thirty years now but until 2018 had not sold her work commercially. In 2019 Bronwen gave up her job so that she could commit herself fully to the creation of her fascinating ceramics.
